culture global stocktake methodology

The Culture Global Stocktake for Climate Action is a global, participatory process to assess how culture is already contributing to climate action and what are current implementation gaps.

In UN climate terms, a Global Stocktake is how the world collectively checks progress on the Paris Agreement. The first Global Stocktake concluded at COP28. But there’s a major gap: culture is still largely absent from climate policy frameworks, despite shaping values, behaviours, narratives, and systems of care.

The outcome will be the first-ever Culture Global Stocktake for Climate Action: a policy document that operationalises Decision -/CMA.7 by assessing impacts, gaps, opportunities, and concrete pathways for integrating culture into UNFCCC processes﹣including future Global Stocktakes.

The gathering produced the first public draft of the Culture Global Stocktake for Climate Action and aligned diverse stakeholders behind shared priorities.
